“When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life,” Samuel Johnson once said. And who could argue with that? This unique, inspiring city seems to always be enjoying a new lease of life. Shoreditch and other neighborhoods have evolved into quirky and eclectic destinations and the likes of The Shard and The Walkie-Talkie have redefined the London skyline.
London has proudly retained its character and charm, however, and recent developments have only added to what has always made the city so great. Buildings such as Big Ben and St. Paul’s Cathedral stand proudly next to their 21st-century counterparts and the city’s museums and art galleries continue to evolve with their cultural offerings. Pints of old fashioned ale still sit happily alongside fancy gin and tonics in even the most trendy of the city's bars, too.
