Dubai to break own highest building record
In Dubai, the sky is the limit – but we knew that already. Now, the emirate has kicked off construction of a building to rise above all others, including its own record-holding giant.
The "Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour,” designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, is envisioned to top the 2,080-feet Burj Khalifa, which currently ranks as the highest building in the world. In addition, the United Arab Emirates’ capital has the world’s tallest hotel, the world’s largest indoor mall, the world’s biggest indoor theme park and the world’s largest aquarium.
The new structure’s exact height hasn’t been revealed yet, but the precise ins and outs are expected shortly. According to reports from the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the colossus – which should be completed by 2020 – will offer 360-degree views over the city, with multiple garden observation decks.
