Fenway / Kenmore

Hello Fenway / Kenmore

Fine arts during the day and home runs at night – that's quite a combination. Throw in the young, academic crowd and the easy transport connections to Downtown, and Fenway / Kenmore is a sure-fire winner. Baseball certainly seems to dominate the atmosphere of the neighborhood, especially on game days when Red Sox fans descend on Fenway Park. Scoring tickets to see the Boston Red Sox is not easy; most home games are a sell-out, so you should plan ahead if you want to experience the real thing. That said, you can also sign up for a guided tour of Fenway Park and see 'The Green Monster' up close, before hitting a rooftop, sports-themed bar or restaurant on Landsdowne Street to watch the game there instead. Get there nice and early to soak up the pre-game atmosphere, and hang around afterward as the pre-gamers return to either celebrate or drown their sorrows.

But we promised you fine arts too, of course, and Fenway / Kenmore more than delivers on that front. The Museum of Fine Arts boasts one of the most comprehensive collections of art in the world, while down the road you'll find the splendid, unique Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. This palatial house has an incredible private art collection and a bright, beautiful courtyard at its center, too. If you wear your recently acquired Red Sox paraphernalia, you’ll pay a discounted rate to get in (Gardner was a big Red Sox fan) or, if your name happens to be Isabella, you'll get in for free!
