Hello Bantry Bay / Clifton
Cape Town gets even more stylish in Bantry Bay and Clifton, where swish homes sit on the steeper slopes over the Atlantic, and the ocean views are just that little bit more spectacular. With a focus on fancy resorts and boutique guesthouses, and a smaller selection of independent restaurants, a car is handy for getting to the restaurants of Sea Point to the north or Camps Bay to the south. Clifton is undoubtedly a much sought-after beach suburb, with its clifftop luxury beachfront apartments and hotels, and no less than four connected white sandy beaches. The water isn't the warmest for those of you that like an early morning swim, but these shores are much quieter than Camps Bay and are very surfer-friendly; the strongest waves are at First Beach. Furthermore, the bay is protected from the worst of the what can often be chilling, summer, southeastern wind. Bring a picnic as there’s not much in the way of beach cafés and bars, and note the steep stairways down to the beaches. Bantry Bay and Clifton boast some of Cape Town’s prettiest beach areas, and yet feel relatively uncrowded at the same time.
