Hello Chelsea / Hells Kitchen
Neatly sandwiched between Hell’s Kitchen and the Meatpacking District, upmarket Chelsea is home to some 300 art galleries and some really interesting contemporary architecture. Exploring the neighborhood via the High Line is perhaps the best way to take it all in. This former railway track has been converted into a raised 1.5 mile stretch of public walkway, with plenty of entrances and exits along the way. The park goes straight through the heart of Chelsea and provides the perfect route for discovering Chelsea Market, Madison Square Garden and some of the neighborhood's many galleries. Round the afternoon off with a bite to eat in Hell’s Kitchen: independent of spirit and resisting gentrification, this is a great spot for exploring New York at it’s gritty, authentic best.
