Hello Downtown Boston

You don't need to be a history buff to enjoy a trip to Boston, but if you are then Downtown is where you want to be. Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere House, the Old Corner Bookstore, the Old State House – Downtown Boston is a what’s what of American revolutionary history. To discover all of these historic monuments, simply follow the red-brick ‘Freedom Trail’ – you can also pick up a map for free from many of the trail’s sites. Throw revolutionary-era pubs into the mix, and the dozens of food stalls that are packed into Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and your appetite for American history will only increase. Join the locals on a stroll around the verdant Boston Public Garden afterward, or to continue the food theme and mingle with the locals, check out Haymarket on a Friday or Saturday. This historic, open-air market is where many Bostonians pick up their weekly meat, fish, and vegetables.

Downtown is also prime territory for setting off to discover the rest of Boston and, in particular, the city's smaller, bordering neighborhoods. Beacon Hill is impossibly charming, particularly at dusk and beyond when the old-fashioned style street lamps light up the cobbled streets and expensive red-brick houses. Then there’s the North End, the oldest neighborhood in the city and Boston’s very own little Italy. The pastry shops here are to die for, particularly Mike’s and Modern. Bostonians can’t agree amongst themselves which does the better cannolis, so you’ll just have to try one from both to see which you prefer.
