Hello Gardens / Tamboerskloof
On the lower slopes of Table Mountain, Gardens is one of Cape Town’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Conveniently located in the City Bowl, near Oranjezicht and between the city center and Table Mountain, the variety and number of restaurants, cafes and bars are a testament to its affluence. Kloof Street, an extension of Long Street, is the place to go for some of Cape Town’s best restaurants. Kloof Street House’s lit-up garden and Victorian house setting are always impressive, while coffee shop Yours Truly, with its jacaranda trees, is typical of the cosy-but-cool cafes in the area. Nearby Orange Street is home to arthouse cinema Labia, while boutique fashion and gift stores are a reflection of the neighborhood's creative vibe. Gardens is also home to one of Cape Town’s most famous hotels, the Mount Nelson. Non-residents can book afternoon tea to enjoy the ambiance of this grand building, or have a drink at the bar or in the gardens. Tamboerskloof, west of Kloof Street, is predominantly residential but this trendy district has a handful of boutique hotels and independent cafes, and its proximity to Kloof Street makes it a good bet.
