Kluuvi is Helsinki at its contemporary best. The locals simply refer to the neighborhood as 'the center,' a reflection of its status as the city's commercial and cultural hub. This is where Helsinki shows off its modern side, from the Kiasma contemporary art gallery and the impressive Helsinki Music Center to the city's central station, considered to be one of the most visually striking in the world. There is more to Kluuvi than its cutting-edge architecture and design, however. Walk around for a couple of hours and you'll stumble across statues of former statesmen, grand department stores and many excellent restaurants that provide as good a value for money as anywhere else in the city. Helsinki's compact size and Kluuvi's central location also mean you're within easy reach of the rest of the city.
