Hello Holborn / Clerkenwell
The neighborhoods of Clerkenwell and Holborn might be very close to one another geographically, but that's pretty much where the similarities end. Pushed to name a hip neighborhood in London and you'd probably reach for Shoreditch first, but Clerkenwell easily could, too. Stylish and hip in natural, unforced way, Clerkenwell is bursting with creativity and boasts some of the best restaurants in London. The markets are great here, too. If you don't fancy splashing out on an expensive lunch, tuck into something delicious from one of the street food stalls at the excellent Exmouth Market. Wander in a southwesterly direction and you'll end up in Holborn, famous in particular for its historical associations with print journalism and the law. Buy a picnic and spread yourselves out on Lincoln's Inn Fields and then immerse yourself in the buzz of Fleet Street, before recovering with a pint or three in one of Holborn's historic pubs. Somerset House, St. Paul's Cathedral and Postman's Park, which is home to the poignant Memorial to Heroic Self Sacrifice, are all nearby.
