Hello Marina Bay / Katong
After graceful Civic District and the mayhem of Little India, Marina Bay is Singapore in all its space-age glory. The area starts east of Raffles Hotel and beyond Beach Road where the Singapore Flyer stands tall. From here, the East Coast Road leads to Katong, with its smattering of Peranakan (Chinese-Malay) restaurants and, across the water, tourists can enjoy views from the half-lion, half-fish Merlion Statue.
But the district really comes to life in Marina South. You can’t miss the three 55-floor towers and surfboard-style SkyPark deck of Marina Bay Sands, a super-luxury hotel with its own shopping mall, concert halls, and casino. Even if you’re not staying, you can soak up the views with a meal or drink at a SkyPark restaurant. The highlight is Gardens by the Bay, with its waterfront gardens, flower dome, cloud forest conservatory, light shows and SuperTree Grove where a Skyway connects the tallest trees for panoramic views. Welcome to the future.
