Hello Greenwich Village / West Village
With its hip, bohemian heritage and proximity to New York University, Greenwich Village is a popular spot for visitors eager to check out the eclectic nightlife and lively student scene. But you shouldn’t mistake that for thinking that Greenwich Village is only worth checking out after hours. One of New York's understated pleasures is sitting on a bench or enjoying a picnic in Washington Square Park, especially when the weather is good. Busking musicians will provide you with the soundtrack, the Washington Arch will provide you with the spectacle and, if you hand over $5, you can even get a chess lesson in the southwest corner of the park. The narrow streets, artsy cafes and low-rise buildings of Greenwich Village and the West Village will soon have you forgetting that you’re standing in the middle of one of the world’s great metropolises.
