Hello Republique / Bastille
Popular with students and a great spot to enjoy a bit of people watching, the Republique and Bastille give you great access to Le Marais with the added benefit of being much less crowded. Those that are curious of mind might be interested in checking out the Musée des Arts et Métiers, which boasts an impressive collection of scientific and industrial instruments, but if you’ve set about discovering Paris from a gastronomic perspective then you’ve landed in exactly the right place. Great food and drink can be enjoyed all over the city, of course, but to rub shoulders with the locals and sample fresh local produce right at the source, visit the wonderful Bastille Market on a Thursday or a Sunday. Sausages of all shapes and sizes, expensive tubs of foie gras, freshly-baked baguettes, dainty macarons – the Bastille Market is a great place to spend a few hours snacking, walking and then snacking some more.
