In the often bitterly cold mountains of Lesotho, it is not unusual to meet a Basotho horseman wearing a kobo, which is a patterned woven cloak or blanket. He will raise his hand in the customary greeting “Khotso”, meaning peace.

Hello Lesotho, the tiny Mountain Kingdom in southern Africa whose lowest point is 1,400 meters above sea level, making it our earth’s highest country. With peaks that soar over 3,000 meters, and roads that struggle to cross the rugged terrain, sure-footed horses have become the daily mode of transport for many of the Basotho people.
