Hello The Palm Jumeirah
The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai might not be the first group of artificial islands in the world, but they are the first to be reclaimed and laid out in the shape of a palm tree. You need to be looking at the archipelago from above to really appreciate this, of course, but you'll probably be having too much fun lounging at a luxury resort, relaxing on a golden beach or taking it all in from a sailboat to worry too much about its shape. Few reclaimed, man-made islands can be quite so indulgent and encouraging of having a good time, either. The ‘leaves’ and surrounding crescent-shaped islands are dotted all over with lively beach-side bars, restaurants and the occasional shopping mall, but Palm Jumeirah's biggest pull and specialty are its exclusive, opulent hotel resorts. The biggest is Atlantis The Palm, which in addition to its own water park and private beach, also boasts some very special if expensive Underwater Suites. Jump on board the Palm Monorail to take in the Palm Jumeira in all its glory, all the while enjoying the spectacle of Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa.
